Tankless
Water Heater Maintenance

Is your tankless unit taking longer to reach temperature than it used to, or drifting lukewarm partway through a shower? We descale the heat exchanger, clean the inlet screen, check the venting, and confirm your output before we leave.

Descaling Keeps Your Unit at Full Output

Your tankless water heater heats every litre on demand, driving it through a narrow heat exchanger at high temperature. Hard water leaves calcium on those hot surfaces, and the layer thickens from one year to the next.

Descaling is the heart of tankless water heater maintenance, and every tankless water heater install comes with that interval attached. Waterloo Region draws its drinking water from groundwater, and the Region of Waterloo(opens in new tab) notes that groundwater is naturally hard because of the minerals it picks up underground.

Harder water scales the exchanger faster, so once a year is the right interval for most homes in this area.

Full output

Your unit holds temperature through a long shower instead of drifting lukewarm halfway.

Warranty intact

Heat exchanger coverage usually depends on proof of annual service, and we leave you that record.

A longer life

A clear exchanger is not fighting a layer of calcium every time your unit fires.

What Tankless Water Heater Maintenance Includes

Every visit follows the same scope at your wall-mounted unit, and we talk you through what we found.

1

Descaling the heat exchanger

We close the isolation valves, connect our pump to the service ports, and circulate descaling solution through the exchanger loop until the calcium lets go. Then we flush the loop with clean water so nothing is left sitting in the passages.

2

The inlet filter screen

We remove the screen, rinse the grit off it, and refit it, because a blocked screen starves the burner of flow and drops your temperature at the tap.

3

Venting and air intake

We inspect both terminations for blockage and check the seals, since a restricted vent on a sealed-combustion unit usually shows up as a fault code and a cold shower.

4

Burner and combustion

We inspect the burner and read the control board's fault history, which tells us what your unit has been struggling with between visits.

5

Gas and electrical connections

We check the connections at the unit, because a heater that fires and shuts down dozens of times a day works its fittings harder than most appliances in your home.

6

Output confirmed at the tap

We run a fixture, confirm your unit reaches its set temperature and holds it through a sustained draw, and note the readings for your record.

Why Homeowners Trust Us With Their Tankless Units

We install these units as well as service them, so our technicians know where the isolation valves sit on your make and how a scaled exchanger behaves in the months before it gives up.

Our team has looked after local homes for over 10 years, we are a five-time HomeStars Best of Award winner, and we are an Authorized Lennox Dealer on the heating and cooling side of the business.

Your tankless water heater maintenance sits alongside the air conditioner maintenance and tune-up we handle for the same households, so one call covers the seasonal work at your home.

We also tell you plainly what we find. If the exchanger is heavily scaled or your unit is nearer the end of its life than you expected, you hear it from us before anything is invoiced.

How a Descaling Visit Runs

The whole job is one appointment, and we work at the wall where your unit is mounted.

1

Book it

Call or send the form, and tell us the make of your tankless unit and roughly when it went on the wall.

2

We arrive ready

The pump, hoses and solution ride on the truck, so there is no diagnostic call followed by a second visit to do the work.

3

We work at the unit

Your hot water pauses only while the solution and the fresh-water flush circulate through the isolation valves, not for the whole appointment.

4

You get it in writing

We leave a record of the service and the readings, which is what a heat exchanger warranty claim asks for later.

Where we service tankless water heaters

Tankless units are going in all over this region, and every one of them will need descaling eventually. We cover Waterloo Region plus Wellington, Perth and Oxford counties. Give us your postal code and we will confirm you are on the route.
