Heat Pump Installation in Waterloo

Heat pump installation in Waterloo carries a provincial rebate that not every address in this region can claim, and yours can. We size the machine for the cold this city actually gets, set the point where your furnace takes over so the running cost holds no surprises, and file the rebate paperwork ourselves.

A Heat Pump That Holds Through a Waterloo Winter

A heat pump does not hold one capacity all winter, so the number on the box is the wrong one to shop on. What matters is what it still makes at minus 19, the cold this city is held to, and that is the figure we put on your quote.

Most houses here keep the gas furnace downstairs and run the two as one system. The point where the furnace takes over is a setting, and we pick it against your own gas and hydro prices instead of the factory default. That setting does more to your January bill than the badge on the box.

Nobody buying a heat pump should have to learn a city's building permit rules. We put your address to the building division before the quote goes out, file the application where one is needed, and any fee lands on the number you see.

Money Off the Top, and We Do the Paperwork

The rebate is the biggest single line on most heat pump quotes, and around here it comes down to who sends your gas bill. Enbridge bills this city, which is the side of that line you want to be on.

If gas heats the house today

The Home Renovation Savings Program asks a gas-heated home for an active Enbridge residential account, and Enbridge is the distributor here, so the door is open at your address. Up to $2,000 back on a cold climate machine that stands outside, worked out at $500 for each ton of its size, or a flat $3,000 on ground source. We file it, you sign it.

If the house runs on electricity, oil, propane or wood

The money goes up: $1,250 a ton to a ceiling of $7,500 on the same cold climate machine, and $2,000 a ton to $12,000 on ground source. The approval still has to land before we start, and the program pays nothing on a house that already has one, so say so on the first call.

What It Will Actually Do on the Worst Night

A heat pump carries two capacity numbers, and only one of them is about your comfort. The program works the rebate out from what the machine puts out on a mild day. The figure that holds your house at minus 19 is a different one. We claim on the first and size on the second, which is the right way round.

Outside temperature Which machine is carrying the house
Autumn, spring and the mild half of winter The heat pump carries the whole house and the furnace never lights. This is where the savings live, and it is most of the calendar.
A clear night around minus 10 Output falls away as the air cools, so it runs longer for the same heat. Nothing you would notice indoors.
Minus 19, the number this city is sized to A cold climate unit is still making heat. Whether the furnace joins in is a setting we choose, not a limit.
Frost building on the outdoor coil The unit reverses for a few minutes, sheds the ice and goes back to heating. Nothing is wrong.
A cold snap that lasts a week The backup carries a bigger share and the hours climb, which is why we set your handover point against your own prices.

Everything in the Price, Named

Seven lines, and every heat pump quote we write here carries all seven.

  • A room-by-room measurement, and proof the machine still delivers at minus 19.
  • Your rebate eligibility read against your own address and your Enbridge account.
  • The application filed by us, the approval back in your hand before we start, and the closing paperwork filed inside 30 days.
  • Inspection dates booked with you, so no crew stands in your driveway waiting.
  • A level pad clear of the drip line, the refrigerant lines sealed, and the brickwork made good behind it.
  • A circuit sized for the machine, a disconnect beside it, and the work notified to the Electrical Safety Authority.
  • The handover point set for your house, then heating and cooling both proven before we leave.

Tell us on the first call if a heat pump is already on the house. The program pays nothing toward replacing one, and you should hear that from us early.

Three Ways a Heat Pump Goes Into a Waterloo Home

An outdoor heat pump unit installed beside a house

Dual fuel, with the furnace staying put

Your furnace stays where it is and covers the hardest nights, while the heat pump carries the everyday heating. Most of this city goes this way, because the gas is already there and the backup is already paid for.

A technician checking refrigerant pressures at an outdoor heat pump

All-electric, and cold climate rated

No gas anywhere in it. The machine carries the season with electric backup behind it, and a house already on electricity claims at the higher rate.

A wall-mounted indoor heat pump head running in a living room

Ductless heads

One head per room, one small hole behind each, and no ductwork at any point. It is how an older house near Uptown gets heat pump heating at all.

The fuel in the house today narrows this to one of the three, and we say which on the first visit. The cold climate machines we carry sit on our heat pump installation page, and ductless mini split installation covers a house with no ducts.

Tell us how the house is heated now and roughly what that costs over a year. We come out, size the machine for this climate, and put a number on the rebate before you decide.

Where the Money Goes on a Heat Pump Install

The machine is rarely what moves this number. The electrical work and the ground the outdoor unit stands on move it more, and neither reads off a phone call. Our financing options page covers the monthly routes.

Which of the three What the work actually is What decides the number
Dual fuel A cold climate outdoor unit, a coil on the furnace you already own, and a control that decides which of the two runs. What it makes at minus 19, the rebate tier you land in, and whether your panel has room.
All-electric, ducted A bigger machine, backup heat sized behind it, and your ducts measured against the air they have to shift. How much backup the house needs, what your service carries, and what the ducts can move.
Ductless heads One outdoor unit, a wall head in each room that needs heating and cooling, and a small hole behind each. The head count, and how far each room sits from the outdoor unit.

A rebate does not make the job cheaper. It makes your share smaller, which is why we pin your eligibility down first.

Who Sizes It, and Who Fits It

Three things have to come out of one head here: the sizing, the handover setting and the rebate application. Split them across three companies and the gaps become your problem, usually in February.

Ten years and more in this region

The people who size your heat pump are the people who fit it, and Sina owns the company.

No trade body hands this one out. It comes from homeowner votes, and five of them carry our name.

The rebate application is ours to file

The program takes it from the contractor rather than the homeowner, so the forms and photographs are our work, not your evening.

Sina and team were very professional and did a very clean job of relocating our furnace, water heater, ERV and Air Conditoner from the middle of our basement to the one corner. They completed the work in 3 days with extra effort to get it done on time and cleaned up after themselves very nicely.

Four Steps, From the Call to the First Cold Night

We answer the rebate question at step two, not after the invoice.

1

You tell us what is heating it now

Phone us, or use the form: the fuel, who bills you for it, and how much of the heating you want the heat pump to carry.

2

We measure, and we read the panel

Your technician measures room by room, reads what your panel has left, picks the spot outside, and confirms what your address qualifies for.

3

You see the arithmetic before you decide

One written quote. The machine, what it holds at minus 19, the control, any electrical work, and what the rebate takes off the bottom.

4

We commission it in both directions

Pad, refrigerant lines, wiring and controls first. Then we heat the house with it, cool the house with it, and set the handover point before the warranty goes in your name.
