Sizing the Air Conditioner to Your Home
An oversized air conditioner is the commonest fault in this trade. A unit chosen from the rating plate on the old condenser rather than from the rooms cools the air within ten minutes, shuts off, leaves the humidity behind, and then repeats that cycle all afternoon.
We measure instead. A technician measures your rooms, counts the windows, notes the shade you have, and checks what the upper floor does by four in the afternoon. A unit sized to the house runs in longer, steadier stretches, and those longer runs are what take the moisture out of the air.
A larger unit cools faster and removes less humidity, so we fit only the capacity your rooms need. If you want the reasoning, choosing the right size air conditioner sets out what a technician measures.
Four Things We Confirm on the Quote Visit
Any of the four becomes a problem on installation day if nobody raises it first.
The capacity your home needs
A technician measures room by room and counts your windows and shade. That figure sets your price, your power bill and whether August feels sticky. No telephone quote can establish it.
Where the outdoor unit will stand
No township rule decides this for you. The Centre Wellington zoning by-law sets no placement or distance rule for this equipment in a residential yard, so we choose the position with you and write it on your quote. On the older streets the lot width limits you, not a by-law: the minimum side yard there is 1.8 metres, and that is the space a condenser has beside your neighbour's wall.
The distance back to the indoor coil
The refrigerant lines have to reach the coil above your furnace. A short straight run behind the house is the least expensive version. A run around the side of a 50-foot lot, or one cored through limestone, costs more.
Where the condensate drains
A working system pulls litres a day out of the air, and at 38 grains of hardness that water leaves deposits anywhere it stands. We give the condensate line a proper fall and a trap you can clean, and we fit a pump only where gravity will not serve.
We answer all four on the quote visit rather than afterwards. The electrical side is not the township's responsibility. Centre Wellington states that it does not review or inspect electrical work, so that notification goes to the Electrical Safety Authority instead. Whoever does the wiring files it, and on our jobs that is us.
Three Ways to Cool Your Home
A single speed unit
It runs at one output or not at all. That suits a home whose ducts already move air properly, and it is the least expensive option.
A two speed unit
It runs on its lower speed through most of the summer and changes to the higher one only on the hottest days. Those longer runs remove more humidity, so the house feels cooler at the same thermostat setting, and it is much quieter under a bedroom window.
Wall mounted heads
We fit one small indoor unit in each room that needs cooling, with no ductwork at all. In the stone houses where the upper floor sits under the roof, nobody ever ran a duct, so this is usually the only option. It heats as well as it cools.
Your ductwork usually answers this question before your budget does, and a technician will tell you which option suits your home. Our air conditioner installation page lists the Lennox equipment we fit, and a ductless mini split is the starting point for a home with no ducts to use.
The Seven Things That Decide Your Price
On a narrow lot the yard affects your price as much as the equipment does, so we show you all seven rather than one figure at the door. If the furnace is also near replacement, doing both at once saves a second tear out, and our financing page sets out monthly terms.
The capacity your rooms call for
The figure we calculate is more often a step above or below the unit being removed than a match for it, and you live with it for fifteen summers.
One speed, two speeds, or a variable speed unit
The same home gives three prices, and three different levels of comfort in August.
The distance back to the indoor coil
A short run straight into the basement keeps this line small, and a long run around the lot or through limestone costs more.
How quiet it needs to be
Nothing in the township's by-laws limits you on sound, so the choice is yours. Where the neighbouring wall is less than two metres away, the quieter unit is worth its extra cost, and we will say so at the quote.
The sheet metal above the furnace
The indoor coil sits inside it. If it will not take the new coil, we cut and rebuild the metal on the day, and that work takes hours.
The wiring
If your breaker panel has space to spare, this line stays small. A long run back to it, or a panel that is already full, costs more.
What else you want done while we are in the basement
A filter cabinet, a better thermostat or a condensate pump suited to this water all cost less now than as a separate visit.
Who Will Install Your Air Conditioner
This is a small company by design. Sina owns the business and is the technician in your yard on most jobs, so the person who chooses the position of the condenser is the person who comes back if it was wrong. We have installed cooling around this region for more than 10 years, our Authorized Lennox Dealer agreement puts factory training and genuine parts behind what we fit, and homeowners have voted this company a HomeStars Best of Award five times.
Professionally and clean new AC installation done last week by Sina. I have used Sina for many years now and always been happy and satisfied because of his honesty and years of experience. His pricing is very affordable and you can always rely on him for any maintenance done for your old heating and cooling systems. Thank you Sina for your work.

How We Install Your Air Conditioner
You will have a written price and an installation date before we order anything.
Tell us what your home does in summer
Call us or send the form. Tell us the age of the system, which rooms are still warm at six in the evening, and whether the condenser has begun making a new noise.
We measure, and we choose the position together
Your technician measures room by room, calculates the capacity from those measurements rather than the old rating plate, then walks the yard with you and agrees where the unit will stand.
You get the price in writing
Your quote lists the equipment and its output, the agreed position, the pipe run, the wiring and the labour, each as a separate line.
We fit it and commission it
We recover the old unit and take it away, set the new one level and connect it, then pull the lines to a vacuum and weigh the charge in. Most installations finish within a day.

The Areas We Cover for Cooling
Lot width varies more between the old core and the newer subdivisions than anything else here, and it decides how much choice you have about the outdoor unit. Tell us the street and we will send a technician who has worked on it.
