What the Heat Pump Must Deliver on the Coldest Night
The colder the outside air gets, the less heat a heat pump produces, which makes the rating on the carton the wrong figure to shop on. The number that matters is the output it still delivers at minus 19, the coldest temperature we size for here, and a cold climate model chosen against that figure keeps heating well below freezing.
The fuel you burn today settles three things at once: the rebate tier open to you, whether a backup heater stays in the basement, and how much of the job is electrical work. That is why our first question is about your meter or your tank rather than about models.
We chase the permit question for you. A heat pump appears on neither the Township's list of work that needs a building permit nor its list of work that needs none, and the fee schedule prices no mechanical permit at all, so we take your address to the building staff before your quote goes out. Where a permit applies it starts at $302.78.
Your Rebate, and Why It Is Not One Number
On most heat pump quotes in this township the rebate is larger than every other line on the page, and it comes in two very different sizes. The fuel in your house today decides which size applies to you, and the larger tier is nearly four times the smaller one.
If a gas meter heats the house now
Enbridge distributes the gas across this whole township, so you already hold the active account the Home Renovation Savings Program asks for. Up to $2,000 comes back on a cold climate air source heat pump. We lodge the paperwork and order nothing until the approval arrives in writing, because work that starts before approval does not qualify.
If propane, oil, wood or electricity heats it now
The machine and the crew are the same, and the rebate rises to as much as $7,500, or $12,000 on a ground source system. Outside the villages that is the ordinary answer rather than a rare one. One condition comes with it: an oil or propane owner signs a tank removal attestation, so clearing the old tank is part of the job.
What a Heat Pump Quote Includes Here
Every quote covers these eight steps, and the paperwork among them belongs to us.
- We measure your rooms and prove the machine still holds the house.
- We read your rebate tier from the fuel you burn today, so you know the figure before you commit.
- We lodge the application and hold the approval before we order any equipment.
- We sort out the tank removal attestation with you where oil or propane heats the house.
- We check your electrical service early, because a panel that has to grow pulls in the utility and adds weeks to the job.
- We lay a level pad clear of the drip line, seal the lines at the wall, and make the brickwork good.
- We tune the control that passes your house between heat pump and backup on the day.
- We prove both modes while you watch, and we register the warranty in your name.
Two things disqualify a house, so please mention them early. The program pays nothing toward a heat pump that is already fitted, and a new build needs six months of occupancy first.
Three Ways to Fit a Heat Pump Here
Keep the gas furnace, add the heat pump
The furnace waits for the hardest nights while the heat pump carries the rest of the year. Inside the villages, where gas is already at the meter, most houses choose this.
Leave the fuel deliveries behind
This is an all electric cold climate system with electric backup, and you never book a delivery again. On the rural roads it also puts you in the higher rebate tier.
Wall heads for a house with no ducts
One unit outside feeds a head on the wall of each room you use, with a small hole cored through for each. In a brick house that never had ductwork, nothing else reaches the upstairs rooms.
The fuel you burn now narrows these three to one long before preference does, and we will tell you which on the first visit. Our heat pump installation page shows the cold climate models we keep in stock, and ductless mini split installation is the answer where there is no ductwork at all.
The Three Setups, and What Each One Costs to Fit
Three things move this number further than the machine does: the capacity of your panel, the ground the outdoor unit will stand on, and the air your ductwork can move. We look at all three while we are in the house. Our financing options page covers spreading the balance once the rebate arrives.
| Your options | What we install | What sets the price |
|---|---|---|
| Gas furnace stays, heat pump added | A cold climate unit outside, a matched coil over the furnace, and a control that chooses between the two. | What the house needs, the grade of equipment, and whether a breaker is free. |
| All electric, through your ducts | A larger heat pump carrying the year, with electric backup sitting behind it. | The backup the house needs, the capacity of your service, and the air the ducts already move. |
| Wall heads | A unit outside, a head on the wall of every room you use, and one small hole cored per head. | How many heads, and the distance back to the unit outside from each. |
The rebate lowers your share of the bill rather than the cost of the work. The approval has to arrive in writing first, so we lodge the application the same day you say yes.
Who Does the Work, and Who Does the Forms
The sizing, the rebate application and the electrical work should sit with the company doing the installation. Split them between three contractors and the gaps become your problem in February.
More than 10 years of this work
We have been installing this kind of system around the region for over a decade, and Sina, who owns the company, is on most of the driveways himself.
Authorized Lennox Dealer
The cold climate equipment we fit comes with factory training and genuine parts behind it.
Five HomeStars Best of Award wins
Homeowner votes decide that award, and our name is on five of them.
We discuss the tank early
Where oil or propane heats the house, the larger rebate asks for a signed tank removal attestation. We raise that at the quote rather than at the end of the job.
Sina is a very professional and polite person. He patiently worked on a very challenging new gas line installation and shutoff of old line in previous home. He left my home in a clean condition and provided all the instructions required for future upkeep. Would definitely recommend him to anyone looking for an havc expert.

Four Steps, and the Rebate Comes First
We order no equipment until the written approval is in our hands.
Start with the meter or the tank
Phone us, or use the form to tell us what heats the house, what a recent bill came to, and how much of the year you want it to cover.
We measure, and we check your panel
A technician measures the rooms one by one, checks what your electrical service can carry, settles the spot outside with you, and names your rebate tier.
One page, with the rebate on it
Your quote names every line: the machine, the control, the electrical work, what it delivers on the coldest night, and your rebate figure. Then we lodge the application.
We fit it, and prove it heats and cools
We set the pad, run the lines and the wiring, then prove it in heating and again in cooling, tune the handover point alongside you, and register the warranty.
The parts of this township we cover
A village semi on natural gas and a farm house on a propane tank are two different quotes for the same machine, and the rebate accounts for most of the difference. Tell us which road you are on and we will book the visit.
