How a Heat Pump Handles a Paris Winter
A heat pump loses some of its output as the air gets colder, so the number to look at is what it still produces on the coldest night of the year. In Paris that night is minus 18, and this town has its own figure in the Building Code rather than borrowing the nearest city's. It is a degree milder than the higher ground to the north, which makes your machine a little smaller.
The rest of the winter matters just as much. That night is the coldest of the year rather than an average one, and this town spends most of the heating season well above it. Those are the weeks when a heat pump costs less to run than gas, and that is where the money comes back to you.
The County of Brant has published nothing about residential heat pumps. There is no permit class, no fee line and no written exemption. So we ask the County's building department before your quote goes out, and what they tell us goes on it.
How Much Rebate Money Your Home Can Claim
Enbridge holds the gas franchise for this county, which keeps the provincial rebate open to homeowners here. How much you get depends on what heats the house today, and the two tiers are a long way apart. We would rather you heard the right figure from us than the largest figure from an advert.
If gas heats your house now
A gas-heated home sits in the smaller tier of the Home Renovation Savings Program. That tier pays $500 a ton, up to a ceiling of $2,000, and a ton is how the program measures the size of a machine. Ground source pays $3,000. We complete the application and wait for the approval before anything is ordered.
If electricity, oil, propane or wood heats it
The same program pays far more. A cold climate air source machine earns as much as $7,500, and ground source earns $12,000. In this county that tier mostly means the properties out past the gas main. Please tell us on the first call, because it changes the whole quote.
What a Paris Heat Pump Quote Covers
Every heat pump quote we write covers these eight things before you decide anything.
- We measure the rooms, then confirm the machine still heats the house through the coldest nights.
- We work out your rebate tier from what heats the house today.
- We send the application in and wait for the written approval to arrive.
- We ask the County where your job stands, and put their answer on your quote.
- We look at your panel on the first visit, because a service upgrade adds weeks.
- We choose the spot with you and set a level pad, and in this county that can be any yard.
- We run and seal the pipework, and we make the wall good behind it.
- We set up the control that decides when the furnace takes over, and agree that point with you.
Two conditions matter here. The rebate pays only on a first heat pump, so replacing one you already have earns nothing, and the written approval has to arrive before we start the work.
Three Ways to Install a Heat Pump Here
Dual fuel, the furnace stays
You keep the gas furnace for the coldest weather and the heat pump handles everything above it. Most houses in this town end up here, because the gas line is already in the ground.
All-electric, cold climate
The gas furnace comes out. One cold climate machine runs the winter with electric backup behind it, and a house on oil, propane, wood or electricity collects the far larger rebate.
Ductless, room by room
This option needs no ductwork at all. One outdoor unit feeds a slim indoor unit in each room you want covered, and it is the only route into a house with solid walls and nothing ducted upstairs.
All three draw their heat from the outside air, and placement is rarely the obstacle people expect here. Our heat pump installation page lists the cold climate equipment we fit. If the house has no ducts at all, our ductless mini split installation page covers that route.
What Decides the Price of a Paris Heat Pump
Three things move the price as much as the equipment does: the electrical panel, where the unit can sit, and what the ducts can carry. All three come out of the site visit, and none of them can be guessed over the phone. Our financing options page sets out how to spread the balance.
| The decision | What it leaves you with | What swings the price |
|---|---|---|
| Keep the furnace, add the heat pump | You have two heat sources and one control choosing between them, hour by hour. | The capacity your rooms require, the equipment tier, and whether a breaker is free. |
| Go all-electric on the ducts you have | One system does the heating and the cooling, with electric backup held in reserve. | The size of that reserve, the utility's answer on your service, and what the existing ducts will carry. |
| Skip ducts entirely | You get an outdoor unit and a slim indoor unit in each room you want covered. | How many rooms you cover, and the distance from each one back outside. |
The rebate is not a discount from us. It is money paid back to you, and only when the approval arrives before we start, so we file the application the day you decide.
Who Handles the Rebate and the Installation
Somebody has to claim the rebate, read the panel, size the machine and set the handover point. All four sit on one quote, so the name on it matters.
More than 10 years of these installations
Sina owns this company and is usually the technician on the driveway. The same person measures the house and commissions the system, which is how the two end up matching.

The cold climate units we install come with factory training and genuine parts.

We read the panel before we price
GrandBridge Energy distributes the power here, and a service upgrade runs on their schedule rather than ours. We check the panel while we are quoting.
I used Local Heating and Cooling for fixing my boiler. They were very professional and did their work very well. They took out my rusty boiler and installed new boiler in just 1:30Hrs. They also took all the garbage and kept the area clean. I would recommend them for all heating and cooling issues.

Four Steps, With the Rebate Approved First
We order nothing until the rebate approval is in writing.
Tell us how you heat the house now
Call us, or use the form. We need to know the fuel, whether the house has an Enbridge account, and how much of the winter you would like it to cover.
We size it, and we look at your panel
A technician measures the rooms one at a time, checks what the electrical service can carry, walks the lot with you to choose a spot, and works out your rebate tier.
The price in writing, with the rebate on its own line
Your quote lists the equipment, what it delivers on the coldest night, the control, any electrical work, and the rebate as its own figure. Then we file the application.
We install it, then we test it both ways
We level the pad, run the pipework and connect the power. Then we heat the house and cool the house with you watching, and we agree the handover setting.

The old stone houses by the river and the newer builds in Riverbank Estates are two different heat pump jobs, and the electrical panel is usually what separates them. Tell us which part of town you are in and we will book the visit.
